Civil & Structural Consulting · Nairobi · Since 1993

Civil and structural engineering, held to public-works discipline.

Shomax Consulting Engineers is a Nairobi civil and structural consulting firm founded in 1993 by Eng. Maxwell Shoni, former Chief Structural Engineer at Kenya's Ministry of Public Works. The firm carries that public-works discipline into consulting practice: clear design responsibility, careful supervision, and engineering records that public and institutional clients can rely on.

The firm

A founder-led practice organised around clear consultant responsibility.

Before establishing the practice, Eng. Shoni served as Provincial Structural Engineer for Coast Province and later as Chief Structural Engineer at the Ministry of Public Works headquarters in Nairobi. That background remains central to how the firm works.

Shomax is organised so that drawings must be buildable, supervision must be recorded, and the consultant's file makes sense to the client, contractor, auditor, and public body that may review it later. The firm has signed commissions for the Central Bank of Kenya Pensions Fund, the Ministry of Energy, the Government of Rwanda, the Government of South Sudan, and the county governments of Vihiga and Kakamega.
