AMEA Power / Aperture Green Wind Power Project
Wind-turbine transport, Port of Mombasa to Kiambu County.
Sector 05 / 06
Energy and renewables work extends Shomax's civil engineering practice into access roads, transmission-related civils, foundation interfaces, and abnormal-load freight routes.
The Energy Act, 2019 sets the licensing path: the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) licenses generation and supply, the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) holds transmission, and any project at scale will engage the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) under the Environmental Management and Coordination Act (EMCA) before construction. Abnormal-load movements on public roads sit under the Kenya Roads Act, 2007 — the road authority of jurisdiction issues the route permits the developer needs. The sector draws on Shomax's civil and structural consulting record, with renewable-energy experience contributed by Eng. Ombogo.
The firm's renewable-energy expertise includes a 300 MW-plus track record across wind-farm logistics, green-hydrogen feasibility, and solar infrastructure — engagements for Vestas, Fortescue, AMEA Power, and Kuehne & Nagel. The current firm commission is the AMEA Power / Aperture Green Wind Power Project (50 MW): transport feasibility study and rural-road design for wind-turbine transport from the Port of Mombasa to the site in Kiambu County.
